Childhood Memories

I have so many happy memories from my childhood, and I love to think back on those carefree days. Even when I'm having a tough time, remembering my childhood always makes me feel better.

One of my funniest memories is from my first day of school. I was so nervous that I started crying when my dad left me in the classroom. I actually laid down on the floor and cried loudly! But then my teacher gave me some chocolates, and that made me stop crying.

I really enjoyed covering my notebooks with brown paper at the start of each school year. I would get my big brother to help me by holding the tape while I wrapped the paper around the books. It was such a simple thing, but I loved doing it.

My friends and I used to have so much fun in the evenings at the playground. We would all go on bicycle rides together, even if it was raining a little. We never got upset with each other back then — if we had a fight, we would just get over it and be friends again.

Family vacations were the best. I loved exploring new places and eating my grandmother's delicious food. Her cooking was the absolute greatest. I would run home from playing just to eat what she made.

Thinking about those days makes me realise how much simpler life was back then. The good values and lessons I learned as a child will always stay with me. My childhood memories are a treasure I will always cherish.

Carefree

A Surprise Birthday

When I woke up in the morning, a tinge of disappointment crept into my heart. It was my birthday, the day I had eagerly anticipated for weeks, yet the usual buzz of excitement was missing. No cheerful greetings, no special breakfast—it was as if the world had forgotten.

My parents acted normally. My mother even asked me to buy vegetables. Feeling ignored, I trudged outside with a heavy heart.

But the moment I returned home, everything changed. “Surprise! Happy Birthday!” echoed through the house. Family and friends popped out from behind curtains and furniture, eyes sparkling with love.

The dining room had transformed—streamers, balloons, and a tall chocolate cake with ten flickering candles stood proudly. Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized how much effort they had put in.

As everyone sang "Happy Birthday," I felt overwhelmed with joy. I blew out the candles and was showered with gifts and warm hugs.

The party was followed by a delicious feast and games in the garden. We laughed, played musical chairs, and clicked countless photos. I even helped Mom clean up after.

That night, lying in bed, I smiled. I wasn’t forgotten—I was loved beyond measure.

As I look out my window on this rainy day, I find myself mesmerised by the wonderful things happening outside. The rain is pouring down, and it's turning the world into a beautiful sight.

The sound of the raindrops is like a soothing song, making me feel calm and peaceful. The air is cooler and fresher, and it feels like the whole world has been cleaned. It’s as if the earth is smiling, washed anew with nature’s gentle touch.

The plants and trees are drinking up the rain, and their leaves are sparkling in the light. It's like a beautiful show of colors as the raindrops reflect the fading sunlight. Even the streets look polished, like a mirror to the sky above.

I watch as the children laugh and splash in puddles. Their joy is pure. The older people gaze from their porches, perhaps thinking back to their own childhood. The women rush to the rooftops to gather laundry. It’s a blend of chaos and harmony.

When the thunder rolls and lightning strikes, it reminds me of how powerful nature is. But it’s not scary — it’s awe-inspiring. It’s like the sky is speaking through rumbling clouds and flashing light.

Finally, as the rain slows and the rainbow arcs across the sky, I feel lucky to witness this moment. The smell of the wet earth, the beauty in every drop — it all makes me grateful. I may not be a poet, but days like this write poems into the heart.
